Great Western Highway, Kelsey Upgrade, Review of Environmental Factors.

There is a proposal for the widening of about 2.4 kilometres of the Great Western Highway at Kelso to four lanes with a divided carriageway separated by a central median.

The proposed road changes are required to ease current traffic congestion at peak times and to cater for future traffic growth from increased population and anticipated residential and commercial development in the area. The corridor is very tight through Kelso and choosing a design that reduced impact on private property businesses and heritage items was of upmost importance.
