The Lord Howe Island Hybrid Renewable Energy Project involves a proposed combination of 450kW of solar PV, up to 500kW of wind and 400 kWh of battery storage, along with stabilisation and demand response technology. This innovative and integrated hybrid system, purposely designed for a small and remote location, will replace up to 70 per cent of the diesel powered electricity generation on the Island. The project will add a combined 1 MW of renewable energy generating capacity to the current diesel power generation system operating on Lord Howe Island.
NGH Environmental were commissioned by the Lord Howe Island Board to prepare the environmental assessment documents along with the visual impact assessment, biodiversity assessment and bird risk assessment for the proposed installation of up to two wind turbines on the Islandl.
